A Black Swan Event

A Black Swan event is highly improbable, unpredictable, and which has a significant impact on financial markets, economies and societies as a whole. While those impacts can be incredibly negative, they can potentially be tremendous opportunities, assuming you can get to the other side intact.

Earth is in danger and only one Human knows. Neal Baxter and his dog Betty get caught in the middle of a battle between Galactic civilizations and get Shanghaied off the planet as a rescue party returns to the ship. Within hours, they are on their way back to the center of the Confederation and Neal and his dog have to learn how to live on a starship crewed by a variety of aliens, all on a quest together that has only a rudimentary knowledge of humans and humanity.

It’s a big and dangerous galaxy out there and now, humanity is being thrown into it with only one man and his dog to give it a chance. Neal Baxter doesn’t like to lose and while a dog may be man’s best friend, it might also be one of Earth’s best ambassadors.
